| The hanging of St John Ogilvie |
John Ogilvie (1579-1615) was born in Scotland, and raised as a calvinist, he converted to catholicism at the age of 17, while in France. After his ordination he continually sought to return to his native land. His ministry in Scotland lasted less than a year.
"His last words were "If there be here any hidden Roman Catholics, let them pray for me but the prayers of heretics I will not have". After he was pushed from the stairs, he threw his concealed rosary beads out into the crowd. The tale is told that one of his enemies caught them and subsequently became a devout lifelong Roman Catholic." (Wikipedia)
