Over a year ago a volcano erupted in Iceland and paralysed air traffic over Europe. On Saturday the 21st May, another volcano called Grimsvoetn erupted (it is Icelands most active volcano), with 12 km (7.5 mi) high plumes accompanied by multiple earthquakes. Airspace over Iceland is closed because of the ash. Whether widespread disruption occurs again will depend on how long the eruption lasts, how high the ash plume rises and which way the wind blows. So to all you hopeful travellers, happy volcano watching!
